How much cabin baggage can I take with me?

A great way on saving on your ticket price is by traveling only with cabin baggage. Many airlines charge up to €25 for checked baggage, so it can be very beneficial to travel with cabin baggage only. Unfortunately every airline has its own rules on how much cabin baggage you can take with you. To make things easy for you we listed the cabin baggage restrictions of 7 airlines below...

Air Berlin

A single item of cabin baggage may not

exceed 8kg (10kg with laptop) and dimensions may not exceed 55cm x 40cm x 20cm.

Passengers who have chosen the JustFly, FlyDeal or FlyClassic fare categories can take one item of cabin baggage on board with them.

Customers in the FlyFlex fare category, Business Class passengers and holders of topbonus Gold or Platinum Cards may also carry a second item of cabin baggage.

In addition one of the following items (max. 40 cm x 30 cm x 10 cm; 2 kg) may be taken into the cabin free of charge (except JustFly fare): a laptop case or a lady’s handbag, a lady’s purse or a gentlemen’s handbag

Brussels Airlines

One piece of cabin baggage + one accessory, the dimensions may not be larger than 55 x 40 x 23 cm. Exceptions are foldable garment bags. They count as hand baggage up to a size of 57 x 54 x 15 cm, with a maximum weight of 12kg.

Business class passengers may take up to 2 pieces of cabin baggage with a total maximum weight of 16 kg.

Easyjet

Option 1: ONE piece of cabin baggage no bigger than 50 x 40 x 20cm including handles and wheels, there is no weight limit. Guaranteed to always travel with you in the cabin.

Option 2: ONE piece of cabin baggage within the maximum allowed size limitations, 56 x 45 x 25cm including handles and wheels, there is no weight limit. On some busy flights your bag may have to go into the hold, at no extra cost.

Germanwings

Each passenger may carry one item of cabin baggage on board with a maximum weight of 8 kg and maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 23 cm. This excludes foldable garment bags carried as cabin baggage, which may measure up to 57 x 54 x 15 cm.

Ryanair

One cabin bag weighing up to 10 kg with maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm, plus 1 small bag up to 35 x 20 x 20 cms may be carried per passenger*.

Due to cabin space limitations only 90 large cabin bags (55 x 40 x 20 cms) can be carried in the cabin, any remainder will be carried free of charge in the aircraft hold. Passengers who have purchased Priority Boarding will not be asked to place their cabin bag in the aircraft hold, unless necessary due to operational reasons.

Transavia

You are allowed 1 piece of cabin baggage per adult within the maximum allowed size limitations, Max. 55 x 25 x 25 cm. The maximum weight limit for cabin baggage is 10 kg.

Wizz Air

Wizz Air offers two cabin baggage options, but has a strict “one cabin baggage per passenger” policy. The difference between the options is the size.

Small cabin bag:If your cabin baggage is of size 42x32x25cm or smaller it can be taken onboard free of charge. It must fit under the seat in front of you.

Large cabin bag:

If your cabin baggage is larger than the dimensions of a small cabin bag but not exceeding 56x45x25cm, you can take it onboard for a fee. It must fit in the overhead compartment. You must be able to place it in the overhead compartment unassisted.
