Copenhagen

€

Copenhagen is the city of the Little Mermaid, Tivoli and the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen. But the city has much more to offer. The cosy historic centre, shops and places of entertainment, the typical coloured houses in the harbour and the many street artists ensure that this is an ideal travel destination...

Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark and what a million Danes call home. This "friendly old girl of a town" is big enough to be a metropolis with shopping, culture and nightlife par excellence, yet still small enough to be intimate, safe and easy to navigate. Overlooking the Øresund strait with Sweden just minutes away, it is a cultural and geographic link between mainland Europe and Scandinavia. This is where old fairy tales blend with flashy new architecture and world-class design; where warm jazz mixes with cold electronica from Copenhagen's basements. You'll feel you've seen it all in a day, but could keep on discovering more for months.

Airport

To and from the airport:

Train:

It takes twelve minutes by train to get from Kastrup (Københavns Lufthavn, Kastrup Station) to the Central Station (Hovedbanegården, abbreviated København H) in the city centre. You need a ticket for three zones, which costs 36 Kr for a single journey and it is valid for 75 minutes from the time of purchase. Train tickets can be purchased from one of the automated vending machines or the ticket counter located inside the atrium of Terminal 3 directly over the railway platforms; there are lifts and travolators between the platforms and Terminal 3.

Metro:

The Copenhagen Metro 9 also connects Kastrup with central Copenhagen, with trains leaving every four minutes during the day and every fifteen minutes at night, taking fourteen minutes to the city center with tickets costing 36 Kr. The airport Metro station is located at the northern tip of Terminal 3 (pass the lifts and travolators to the train platforms) and is covered by the roof of the terminal.
